just be you

I played along with the June Sketch Challenge at My Mind's Eye at just the last minute. I have a whole bunch of different bits of MME here that I don't know what's what. We have Miss Caroline, American Made, and Collectable. I really wanted to machine stitch my banner but I was in a hurry.

That's a ketchup smiley face on that hotdog!

a rosy hello

It's been awhile since I've done a hardcore card that didn't include Heartfelt Creations. Thank goodness for them or I wouldn't be making cards at all!

One of my New Year's resolutions was to color one new image per month. I'm behind now by about 2 images. I'd like to get caught up in the next few days. My coloring skills are rusty.

Inspiration for this card started with this beautiful image from Beary Wishes, Follow Your Heart by My Mind's Eye, and then a CASE study of Michele Kovack's card.

I find reds challenging. However, it gets easier since my habit of coloring to match a paper collection. I colored this image with Prismacolor pencils and topped with Diamond Stickles. I used Spellbinder dies to cut the stamped image and the square doily.

Here I have a layer of ribbons, button, and twine. How nice is that bit of sparkle on the button?

I tried to keep the coloring on the butterfly simple and then topped with Diamond Stickles. I used Antique Linen Distress Ink on the edge of my image.

love this life

Hello, Everyone!

I've been a scrappin' fool this week. I've also been cleaning up my stash and making quick kits to help me use up some great stuff.

I'm enjoying my b r e a k from design teaming but one of the things I love about DTs is using stuff I wouldn't normally pick for myself. Today, I'm showing off A Charmed Life by Simple Stories thanks to Memorable Seasons.

I started with a sketch from Scrap Our Stash. A couple of challenges also helped move the design of this layout along. The sketch doesn't include that 6x12 piece of card stock but Louise's Recipe Challenge does!

The hexagons are fussy cut from 24/Seven by Simple Stories. Once again, I wouldn't have thought of  it without Louise's challenge. She also required bling. I messed up a bit on the fussy cutting and covered my mistake with a nice brad and accented with bits of green bling. Ta-da! I was also thrilled to discover an opportunity for a journaling spot while I was fussy cutting the hexagons. Perfect!

I love these corrugated words from Jillibean Soup. I started with just the "Life" piece but added "love" and "this" because of Tammi's Love This Challenge at My Scraps & More. "#LOVE" is a sticker from A Charmed Life by Simple Stories. "this" letters are from Persimmon by Basic Grey- another collection I wouldn't have considered without Memorable Seasons and then found it absolutely superior!

I cut this long border sticker in half and then accented with punched corners like the sketch. The sticker with the row of hearts is also from Simple Stories.

Thanks to Louise (again), I added this lovely bit of ribbon. It's so sweet just like the photo! I think it really ties things up... hehehehe.

The "friday" tab is from simple Stories. The blocks of pattern paper really looked plain so I introduced doodling on the edges. Works for me. The spots of green are leftovers from the border sticker I used below.

A border sticker from Simple Stories. I used the punched spots all over my layout.

grandmother

Once again, I used a bunch of scraps from Wendy's stash. I was inspired by marnel's layout. The papers are a variety from My Mind's Eye.

Wendy also sent me scraps and some of those scraps had negatives left over from die cuts. I used the negative to create these chevron arrows with a Micron pen and fussy cutting. The circle stamp is from Stampendous and the brad is from Lush by MME.

On the right, I used that same negative to draw the arrows directly onto my card stock. "Buddies" is a sticker from Echo Park. The "date" banner is MME. The wood polaroid is from Recollections.

The card features "mother" so I added "grand" with Echo Park stickers. I also ran it through my sewing machine a bit.

i got this, mommy

As a teacher, summers are for scrapping mania! I really haven't done much this month. However, with all the rain we're getting this week, I finally have a good excuse to hole up in my scrap space.

Most of this layout is put together with papers RAKed to me from Wendy. I love these colorful papers from Color Me Happy by Glitz Design and a sketch from My Scraps and More helped me put them together.

I left out the word "year"! Oh, well. I used machine stitching on the edge of my layout. The blue polka dot ribbon was just a scrap sitting on my desk forever. The doodle stamp is from Orbit by Crate Paper.

I used Tiny Type by Cosmo Cricket for the title. The puffy heart is American Crafts. The wood polaroid frame is Maya Road.

The heart stamp is Studio G. As soon as I stamped the hearts in black, I wished I used red. I compensated with red gems.

I'm hosting a tea party in July and used my Heartfelt Creations supplies to help me create personal invitations. I was inspired by this elegant card by Lesley. The sentiment is from Door to My Heart PreCut Set. The stamp on the left is from Script Aster Background PreCut Set. The stamping on the right is a combination of Vintage Word Background PreCut Set and a retired leaf stamp. I used Honeycomb embossing powder with the retired leaf stamp.

I used Prismacolor pencils to color this image and topped with a bit of Diamond Stickles. The edge of the card is colored with Wild Honey Distress Ink.

keep it real

Last night, I was breaking apart this kit. As I pulled the embellishments out of the plastic bag, I started layering this and that while I sat on the floor... Ten minutes later, I had a layout.

We have a wild mix of Crate Paper and Simple Stories. And everything else.

The yellow paper is from 100 Days of Summer by Simple Stories. The black and white paper is from Portrait by Crate Paper and the green paper is from Random by Crate Paper. The die cut is from Paper Lace- Cricut Craft Room and Cricut Expression. The heart banner is from Teresa Collins and the polaroid frame is Jillibean Soup (I think).

The sticker banner is from Yearography by Simple Stories.

Acetate by Basic Grey.

Cloud stickers are from Yearography by Simple Stories. "family" is a stamp by Heidi Swapp.

The wooden star is from Recollections- a Michael's brand. The "be happy" sticker is from Yearography by Simple Stories. I think the ruler is a die cut by Crate Paper.

The journaling card is from My Mind's Eye. The brown square was cut from Restoration by Crate Paper.
