I Love You

This card is going to be for my very own mommy! She loves pink, blue, green, flowers, and
stuff that sparkles. Think I covered all that?

I've fallen in love with using 6x6 papers on my cards over the last month or so, thus a buying addiction. However, I always sighed and rolled my eyes when I flipped through this MME Miss Caroline paper pad and saw that background paper, with the dark wood and flowers. I just didn't like it. Then, I saw this card by Claudia. So THAT'S how it's done! As usual, she is brilliant with layering. I always love how she mixes colors for matting. It certainly takes the fuss out of matching everything. Well, let me just admit it: most of this card is fashioned after hers. At least, it's for someone really special!

I know I just posted my farewell to Whimsy Stamps but I'll never be tired of their digis. This one is by Crissy Armstrong. I colored her with Prismacolor pencils and blended with OMS. I used Distress Ink on the edges, blue and green.

The flowers are a blend of Prima and Recollections. The little metal piece I found on eBay. I used my Cricut to cut a perfect paper oval and filled it with a sentiment from Hot Off the Press,
topped with Glossy Accents.

Have you made something for your mom? Leave a direct link in the comments and I will check it out!

Waterfall Card *Heartfelt Creations*

This is the third item I submitted as a Heartfelt Creations Semi-Finalist.

My first official Design Team piece is coming up soon!

Papers are from 29th Street Market by My Mind's Eye. I stamped the Flirty Fleurs image with colored markers and colored in with chalk. Check it out in my video below!

To make the waterfall card, I followed this tutorial.

SUPPLIES:
STAMP(S) AND INK: Heartfelt Creations Flirty Fleurs. Heartfelt Creations Filler Leaves- unmounted. Colorbox. Versamark.
PAPER: My Mind’e Eye 29th Street Market
COLORING MEDIUM: Whispers markers by Sugarloaf. Shimmer chalk by Pebbles.
TOOLS: Making Memories Tool Kit Deluxe
EMBELLISHMENTS: Micron pen. Eyelets. Sewing machine. Twine. Tim Holtz.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Background: Purple cardstock is 4 1/8” x 5 6/8”. Ink the edges. Using the Filler Leaves stamp, stamp the edges in several places with Versamark ink. Use green chalk on stamped images. Ink the edges of the purple cardstock. Mat and glue to green cardstock.
Waterfall: Use purple and green brush tip markers to ink the floral stamp. Stamp onto white cardstock. Color with chalk. Repeat. Use a trimmer to cut four 1 3/4” squares from the two stamped images. Use the Micron pen to draw a border on each piece. Glue the four stamped squares to 2” mats. Next, cut a 2x9” strip from polka dot paper. From one end, score at 2, 2.75, 3.5, and 4.25 inches. Starting at the 2” scored section, carefully glue one of the stamped squares to the solid side of the polka dot cardstock. And the remaining three pieces to the .75”x2” sections.
Click HERE for video tutorial on stamping with markers and coloring with chalk.
Center the waterfall piece on the card. Do NOT glue. Secure with tape or magnets. Cut a strip from the striped paper and position with magnets. Add a dot of glue on each end. Do NOT glue the entire strip. The piece with the pull on it should move freely under the strip. Glue the stamped section to the top of the strip. Add eyelets to each side. Pull out the pull tab and install an eyelet. Reinsert the pull tab under the striped strip. Machine stitch around the edge of the card. I used a Tim Holtz safety pin, twine, and a Tim Holtz charm to create a pull.
Card base: Cut Cut a 9x6 inch piece of thick, white cardstock. I like textured CS for card bases. Score at 4.5. Attach the card front to the base.

Hello You- Heartfelt Creations

The second card I made for Heartfelt Creations.

This one is my favorite. I love shabby chic colors!

I want to give a shout out to Iwona. I had been looking at her "Thanks a Bunch" card
when I started on this rose. I really liked her green ink accents.

I followed Card Sketch Pattern 158. The papers are from Beautiful Dreamer by Glitz Design.

This gorgeous stamp is Katie Rose by Heartfelt Creations. I colored the image with Prismacolor pencils and blended with OMS. I cut it with room to spare at the bottom, then inked with green and brown and finished with Stickles.

A random punched piece left over from a previous project. It was pink! Perfect.

The sentiment is a die cut from Random by Crate Paper. For the large posy die, I cut it from white cardstock, topped with Clear Rock Candy and sprayed with Glimmer Mist.

MORE DETAILS

SUPPLIES
STAMP(S) AND INK: Heartfelt Creations “Katy Rose” Unmounted. Archival black ink. Tim Holtz Distress Ink.
PAPER: Beautiful Dreamer by Glitz Design, DCWV, American Crafts
COLORING MEDIUM: Prismacolor pencils, OMS
TOOLS: HC Spellbinder Dies “Layered Scalloped Posy”. Sewing machine. Glossy Accents. EK Success.
EMBELLISHMENTS: Stickles. ribbon. stick pins. Maya Road. Crate Paper “Random.” TH Clear Rock Candy. Glimmer Mist. Lace trim.
SKETCH: Card Patterns Sketch 158.

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Stamp the image with Archival ink. I like to use the textured side of Canson Bristol XL Recycled with Prismacolor pencils and OMS. Color the image. Cut to 2.75 x 4 inches, leaving some white space under the image. Ink the edges with distress ink. I used TH vintage photo and old paper (kinda green). Stickle the edges and set aside to dry.
  2. Use the larger die from the Layered Scalloped Posy set and cut from smooth, white cardstock. Use temporary adhesive to hold the die cut on nonstick splat mat. Brush on clear rock candy. Let air dry.
  3. Cut a 3.5x5 inch piece from the rose paper. Distress and ink the edges. Adhere to 4 3/16 x 5 11/16 from greenish paper. Mat to pink cardstock. Machine stitch the edges.
  4. If the die cut is not dry, finish with a heat gun. Spray with pink glimmer mist and wipe away excess. Heat some more to dry. Adhere to card.
  5. Use Glossy Accents to attach lace trim. Use foam dots to attach stamped piece. Tie a bow from white ribbon and attach with glossy accents. TIP: Set a hammer on top to secure the bond. Do not move the hammer for at least ten minutes.
  6. Use foam dots to attach the “hello you” die cut sentiment.
  7. I had a tiny leftover, border punched piece from a previous project. It was pink. So, I inked the edges attached to the top of the card, kinda like a whimsical banner.
  8. Finish with a couple of stick pins.
  9. CARD BASE: Cut a 9x6 inch piece of thick, white cardstock. I like textured CS for card bases. Score at 4.5. Attach the card front to the base.
Thanks for stopping by!

My First Card- Heartfelt Creations

When I first got my Semi-Finalist package from Heartfelt Creations and saw the contents,
I almost immediately had this first card in mind.

I did a search for an extra boost of inspiration and I'd like to give a shout out to these ladies:

I started by stamping the door with Archival ink and adding a bit of color and distress with Distress Ink. The paper is from Miss Caroline by My Mind's Eye.

I accented the sentiment with Distress Ink and Stickles. Finished the look with a post and flowers.

I stamped this image with Archival Ink and colored with Prismacolor pencils, using OMS to blend.

I used a fun green trim to allude to grass.

  5. Die cut an elegant post and ink the edges.
  6. Heat emboss some posies and die cut. I cut 9 flowers. Used a stylus to curl the petals.
  7. Cut a 5 3/16” square piece from MME wood paper. Ink the edges. Mat to brown cardstock.

So Long, Farewell to Whimsy Stamps

I started with Whimsy Stamps back in May 2011. I have absolutely loved serving on the design team. Debbie and Denise were wonderful leaders and they maintain an outstanding group of designers.

With a heavy heart, it is time for me to move on. But first, I wanted to showcase all of the digital stamp designers with my favorite pieces from over the past few months.

Born To Rock

HELLO!

I have a masculine guitar theme to share today.

Started with some inspiration from Sarah-Louise's gallery at KennyK Downloads
Decided to keep it simple and I think this will do well for a teenage boy. Papers are from
Vintage Findings by Making Memories.

This digital stamp is from Stitchy Bear Digital Stamps. I colored the image with Prismacolor pencils
and blended with OMS. I used distress inks to color the "wall." Love me some distress inks! When I trimmed the image, I trimmed a white border. I didn't want to distress ink the border so I masked with Scotch tape. I used the TH handle and two foam pad applicators. I started with the Old Paper ink and finished with the Vintage Photo ink.

Some decorative tape by Tim Holtz, accented with a photo anchor.
